  • Abstract
    The paper briefly surveys the mechanical design only of lightweight motor- and trailer-coaches, and outlines the principles governing designs in light aluminium-alloys, stainless steels and low-alloy high-tensile steels, by the use of which, reductions in the tares of vehicles can be effected. The characteristics of these materials are given, and it is shown how savings in weight may be achieved.
