Abstract :
Ambient vibration tests and computer simulations help determine the seismic danger faced by a Turkish viaduct located just 10 km from a major fault that recently experienced a 7.8 magnitude earthquake. The bridge supports a main highway, proving crucial during times of disaster; it has been used for the delivery of relief supplies and medical evacuations. Currently, researchers are performing ambient vibration testing and finite element analysis on the viaduct to determine the potential risks. After completing their studies, they will propose specific remedies, if necessary, to prepare the bridge for the next earthquake
