Abstract :
Localised estimates of the optical-flow field in a video-frame sequence are noise prone. By observing a similarity between first differential filtering used for two differing purposes, confidence testing of estimates is shown to be reliant on the curvature of an intensity surface. A successful confidence test moves towards hardware implementation
