Abstract :
These days, it seems as if something financial is quite often a relevant issue when I getting around to writing these bimonthly columns. A few months ago, it was the October 19 stock-market debacle, and this time it\´s the April 15 tax "doomsday". I\´m a little late doing this column because of spending so much time and so many weekends lately in wading through my "simplified 1987 US taxes. April 15 in the US is never a happy time, especially this year as a result of our new tax law. Contending with filling out the modified and new forms that are required has been a real challenge, and without the MaclnTax package I\´ve used the last several years, this chore would have been even more vexing. With MaxlnTax, I can add data and make corrections right up to the last minute. The changes are all linked throughout the various forms being used and when one is finally satisfied that all required data has been entered, each of the forms used and available in the program can be printed out in IRS-approved style using dot-matrix or laser printers. While filling our tax returns and paying taxes ranks right up there with getting a root canal, a program such as MaclnTax can at least make the mechanics of this yearly exercise ali ttle less onerous.
