Abstract :
In a typical undergraduate course in EM field theory, electrostatics is inevitably followed by magnetostatics. Now in a rare instance of real life imitating the textbook, we have MAGNETOGRAPHY, a natural successor to the ubiquitous \´Xerox" machine! The Spring 1988 issue of French Advances in Science and Technology, a newsletter issued by the French Embassy in the US, describes this new non-impact printer from Groupe Bull. The magnetographic printer creates an image on a magnetic drum, which is then transferred to paper where toner is fused by heat.
