Abstract :
A simulation model of an HDLC protocol for use with a VSAT satellite communication system with fade countermeasures is presented. Different criteria for mode selection are introduced and the one based on the maximum error free data throughput chosen for the operation of this system. Results of the selected real fading events simulations are presented for the earlier GBN and the new SR protocol versions where the SR exhibits the expected improvements in all cases
