Abstract :
Using an exact numerical solution, the transient response of a two-layer Earth model is obtained for an obliquely incident transverse magnetic (TM) plane wave. It is shown that the decomposition of the general case into ray contributions is an alternative approach that yields consistent results. Several examples are given to demonstrate the sensitivity of the results to the electrical properties of the subsurface region
