Abstract
A unique a-c ionization chamber is described utilizing the acoustic pressure generated within an ionized gas by an applied a-c field. On the basis of preliminary theory an experimental neutron-sensitive chamber was designed. The instrument has an approximate sensitivity of 1.5 Ã 107 neutrons/cm2/sec (neutrons per square centimeter per second) and proves to be rugged and fast.
