Abstract
A novel method for removing impulsive noise from Digital Video Broadcasting Terrestrial (DVB-T) signals is presented in this paper. This method is based on earlier research that demonstrates the existence of correlation between the horizontal and vertical polarized electric field components of the impulsive noise. That makes it possible to predict the presence of impulsive noise in one polarization component by monitoring the amplitude level in the other one. The performance of the method is demonstrated by carrying out some simulations on a DVB-T system. Results show that the impulsive noise effect over the bit error rate can be almost wholly removed, even with high power noise pulses surging.
