Abstract :
An OTDR calibration device based on a recirculating optical delay line has been constructed. The device operates in both passive and ´active´ modes and in the latter mode good agreement is obtained between the measured and predicted performance of the device. The device allows calibration of OTDRs for distance, linearity and attenuation.
