Abstract :
The growth of thin films of Pb-doped BiSrCaCuO by laser ablation is described. The authors use for the first time, the laser ablation technique to ablate multilayers of both doped BiPbSrCaCuO and PbO. In common with other BiPbSrCaCuO films grown by alternative routes, the layers produced still require an ex situ annealing step, although the presence of a nearby Pb-rich solid was not required. A mixture of both 2223 and 2212 phases is found in the films, exhibiting Tc,onset of 110 K and Tc,zero of 81 K.
