Abstract :
An optimal correction algorithm for each stand in a finishing mill was developed. A mill setup calculation system that includes mathematical models of temperature and deformation resistance in rolling materials was developed. Particular emphasis has been put on the development of a method of optimizing the load distribution among the stands and on the development of accurate set up metals. This setup calculation was applied to a New Zealand hot strip mill, which consists of a reversing rougher and a four-stand finishing mill. With this configuration, strip was successfully rolled with a finished thickness of 2 mm and a width of 1250 mm
