Abstract :
The paper defines phase delay, and describes apparatus employing a novel principle that enables direct measurements of phase delay to be made. The apparatus is suitable for a frequency range from 100 kc/s to 10 Mc/s, and both through and loop circuits may be measured. For delays of less than 1 microsec the error is within ± 0.01 microsec; the range of measurement can be extended to 10 microsec but the accuracy is then slightly reduced.
