Abstract :
The authors present a new interferometric technique for writing apodised Bragg gratings. Along the fibre, two UV-pulses interfere with a variable time delay, creating a Gaussian apodisation profile which strongly reduces the reflectivity sidelobes. This method allows the writing of truly apodised gratings by single exposure of a uniform phase-mask
