Abstract :
We demonstrate an easy-to-implement method to determine the linewidth of a laser diode based on the measurement of phase noise in a self-mixing interferometer. The method features a self-aligned experimental setup with an overall length much shorter than the laser coherence length; the method does not require RF measurements and gives results in agreement with the self-heterodyne technique.
