Abstract :
Cable links are frequently used to connect the site of a television outside broadcast to the network serving the broadcast transmitters. One of three types of cable may be used for this purpose namely special low-loss balanced-pair cable, coaxial cable, or pairs in the ordinary telephone network. On telephone cable or special balanced pair cable, transmission is direct at video frequencies but on coaxial cable a carrier system has to be used.
