Abstract :
This article addresses the requirements for angular sample spacing in performing far-field and near-field electromagnetic field measurements on a spherical surface, surrounding an antenna. The requirements presented are the minimum angular increments which preserve all the information present on the measurement surface, within a fixed dynamic measurement range of 100 dB. The rcsclting minimally sampled fields are not the smooth pattern measurements that might be recorded directly on an analog recorder; but the fields could be processed using a non-informationadding reconstruction technique, such as Fourier interpolation, to yield the same smooth pattern plots
