A Note on the Inductance of Screened Single-Layer Solenoids

The paper is a sequel to the paper on ¿The Use of Bessel Functions for calculating the Self-Inductance of Single-Layer Solenoids¿ by Prof. E. B. Moullin, and its purpose is to calculate the change of inductance when a single-layer solenoid is placed coaxially inside a cylindrical screening can. The problem has been treated experimentally by A. G. Bogle, who obtained a simple workshop formula for the fractional change of inductance of a coil when it is screened. The results of the paper are compared with Bogle´s formula and are shown to be in good agreement.
