Abstract
A method for designing wave absorbers for cylindrical objects with various diameters is discussed. The nonreflection curves and the reflection losses of cylinder-type wave absorbers for both transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) modes are calculated by the mode expansion method. Experiments that confirm the validity of the analysis were conducted. The reflection losses are measured for conducting cylinders coated with available wave absorbers, which are designed under the flat plate condition. The comparison between the calculations and the experimental results shows good agreement
