Abstract :
A method has been developed for the measurement of the vector permittivity of water and other high-loss liquids. A description is given of apparatus which has been constructed for the purpose of making measurements on water and aqueous solutions at wavelengths of 3.2 cm and 1.26 cm. Measurements recorded with water at 3.2 cm and 1.26 cm are given and compared with the results obtained by Collie5 et al. The accuracy at both wavelengths is better than ± 1% in both K¿ and K¿. A modification of the method has been developed to permit measurements to be made on high- and low-loss liquids or solids.
