Abstract :
A simple graphical construction is developed for predicting the dynamic braking torques of slip-ring and squirrel-cage induction motors, taking full account of saturation and of the rotor leakage reactance. The test results given confirm the accuracy of the method. It is shown that the rotor-circuit reactance may often be neglected where great accuracy is not required. The proper way of calculating the total deceleration time of an induction motor under dynamic braking conditions is also given.
