Abstract :
A technique to design IIR filters with linear phase in the passband is presented. This technique is based on model reduction of an FIR prototype using frequency weighting to improve the approximation in the transition region. Filters designed using the proposed technique are compared with linear-phase FIR designs and to IIR phase equalized designs with respect to computational complexity and group delay. It is shown that for highly selective filters, the proposed technique offers a good compromise
