Abstract :
Distributed Raman amplification is used to reduce the optical power launched into the transmission fibre of an analogue communication system. This reduces all impairments caused by fibre nonlinearities. The authors have experimentally demonstrated 8-15 dB nonlinear crosstalk reduction in an analogue wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) system
