Abstract :
A method for optimising conventional toothed-rotor speed sensors using a two dimensional finite element model technique was developed. The modelling was quick to implement and was found to be accurate when used to evaluate sensor output characteristics. Optimisation of commercially available sensors was possible and modelled results indicated that a 216% improvement in sensor characteristics was possible for one particular case
