Abstract :
An accident at the start of the new year left Irene Peden in a wheelchair with multiple fractures of one leg and a torn ligament in the other ankle.. That hasn´t stopped her: as we went to press she was recovering well, and quite actively protecting and furthering AP-S interests. By the time you read this, she expects to have recovered. However, there was no way to get a President´s Message into this issue. The followin is a portion of the keynote address delivered by her to the International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, Seattle, Washington, August 2, 1988. WRS
