Abstract :
Silver sulphide nanoparticles were synthesised by the reaction of silver nitrate and thioacetic acid by a sonochemical method. The as-synthesised nanoparticles, with an average size of ~11.8~nm, were characterised by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectra and energy-dispersive X-ray microanalysis. Facile preparation and separation are important features of this route. To the best of author~s knowledge, it is the first time that thioacetic acid is used as S source for the synthesis of metal sulphide.
