Abstract :
A modified Gram-Schmidt (MGS)-based antenna selection scheme is proposed for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems in correlated channels. This MGS antenna selection strategy is developed based on an auxiliary parameter formulated by the projection component that is obtained from the GS orthogonalisation process. Consequently, the use of the MGS antenna selection algorithm is capable of achieving an improvement in system capacity and a substantial saving in system hardware of the multiple radio frequency chains associated with multiple antennas.
