Abstract
It is shown that Gabor´s tangent method of electron-path tracing may be extended to problems which include the determination of paths in the presence of crossed electric and magnetic fields. The magnetic field may be either constant or it may vary with position if the distribution is known. The possible extension to time-varying fields is indicated. Experimental results are given, including a trochoid compared with the calculated path and typical paths in a split-anode magnetron.
