Abstract :
The effective frequency, a quantitative measure to characterise short-pulse radiation, is used to give a simple evaluation of the slow decay effect in short-pulse radiation by making a well defined comparison between the effective frequencies resulting from different short-pulse excitations. A direct criterion in choosing the exciting short pulse is thus provided
