Abstract :
The error rate performance of an on-off keyed optically preamplified burst mode receiver using a Fabry-Perot filter is analysed including the effects of pulse distortion, ISI resulting from the filter characteristic and realistic noise statistics. The optical power penalty is 1.38 dB for 1 bit preamble, decreasing to 0.19 dB for 10 bits
