Abstract :
The evolutionary growth in the use and application of microprocessors in substations has brought the industry to the point of considering integrated substation protection, control and monitoring systems. An integrated system holds the promise of greatly reducing the design, documentation, and implementation cost for the substation control, protection, and monitoring systems. Here, the author explains how, before considering the promises, on should consider the technical development path and the present implementation problems
