Modified transmission-line couplers for helices

It is shown that complete power transfer between two coupled transmission lines is possible if the mean phase velocities are identical, even if the coupling coefficient and relative velocity vary in a periodic, but otherwise arbitrary, manner. This allows the construction of contrawound helix couplers with a geometry arranged to meet particular technical requirements. A possible application to the construction of filter couplers is briefly described.
