Abstract :
A novel method of transient eddy current analysis for moving conductors is proposed. In the analysis, different moving coordinate systems are used at each finite element in the conductor, respectively. The velocities of the coordinate systems are determined automatically at each time-step for the purpose of reducing the numerical error. Numerical experiments are carried out to verify the advantages of the method. It is clarified that the method gives accurate results of flux density, eddy currents and electromagnetic force without significant increase of calculation time compared with traditional methods that use single coordinate systems
