Abstract :
Reader contributions again form the major portion of this month´s column, one topic continuing the theme of several recent columns, that of computer programming languages. Not surprisingly, programming languages and operating systems are issues of great importance to those of us who make regular use of computers in our work. Advent of the personal computer has probably exacerbated the situation because of the increasing access to computing power that they provide, and the accompanying explosion of applications programs.
