Abstract :
A long with all my predecessors, and surely my successors too, I find myself starting this last column with the thought that time certainly flies by too fast. It has been a most rewarding year, and one in which my pride in the Antennas and Propagation Society has continued to increase. The Society is well respected for the technical excellence of its membership, the dedication to the profession displayed by all those who devote so much time and expertise to it, and its sound financial footing. The IEEE Societies are among the greatest strengths of the organization, and whereas I have viewed the issues and actions addressed by the individual Societies with appreciation this year, some trends within the parent organization have given me pause. Before leaving these Newsletter within the IEEE itself, which I look upon with dismay. pages, I want to comment on somemerging directions
