Abstract
Cu3V2O7(OH)2·2H2O hollow spheres and sponge-like hollow structures were successfully synthesised via a liquid precipitation method with polystyrene spheres as the template. The influence of morphology on electrochemical performances of the products was investigated. Electrochemical measurements reveal that the as-prepared Cu3V2O7(OH)2·2H2O sponge-like hollow structures deliver high discharge capacity, high-rate capability and enhanced kinetics towards lithium intercalation, indicating that they might find possible application as promising cathode materials in primary lithium batteries for long-term and high-rate applications such as in the field of implantable cardioverter defibrillators.
