Abstract :
In this paper, the hybrid approach of combining the planar, cylindrical and spherical Perfectly Matched Layers (PML´s) is proposed to truncate the unbounded region when 3-D curvilinear edge finite element method is used to solve certain radiating and scattering problems. In these cases, the hybrid PML´s can be designed to adapt to the shape of the scatterer or radiator so as to reduce the number of unknowns. In addition, when the cylindrical PML is terminated by a semi-spherical PML, the edge regions and their reflections can be eliminated. Therefore, the computational accuracy and efficiency can be further increased
