Abstract :
The author presents a modal-based identifying method of the optimum site for power system stabilisers. A recent concept of participation factors is extended by introducing new coupling factors, which enables a direct selection of generators where the application of stabilisers yields maximum improvement of overall system damping characteristics. The performances of the proposed method are studied and compared with those of the previous methods, on the example of the well known ten-machine test system
