Abstract :
As project management is more often executed in India and controlled by Indian firms, entry to software work has become more dependent on market demand, and less on qualification in a software-related discipline. The attributes approach fails to answer why professionals possess a high amount of power and social status in society and why they are largely free from the evaluation of the public. The power approach views a profession as a set of role relationships between experts and clients. We conclude that software work in India is properly categorized as an occupation.
