Abstract
We study the mechanisms of the surface plasmon wave (SPW) resonance on a metallic periodic groove grating with perpendicular cuts using the finite-difference time-domain method. The dependence of cuts on the resonant frequency of the SPWs which is theoretically analyzed by a proposed inductance-capacitance transmission line model show a red or blue shift of the resonant frequency, which can be attributed to the change of the equivalent inductance and capacitance caused by the surface current flow and charge distribution.
