Abstract :
The economic importance of the enterprise culture has put the spotlight on new businesses, many of which have been started by engineers. More engineers can be encouraged to become entrepreneurial by adopting a ´can do´ attitude. Benchmarking against key elements and attitudes provides a guide and incentive for creative engineers to become entrepreneurs, either running their own businesses or within existing organisations. This paper discusses the results of a survey of 50 Scottish entrepreneurs many of whom are engineers.
