Abstract
The discrete-ordinate method is investigated to solve the vector radiative transfer equation with respect to polarisation effects in multiple scattering problems in rain media and the validity of the method is justified by available results. The intensity of coherent and incoherent fields against optical distance and cross- and co-polarisation discriminations against observation angle with a specific drop size distribution is presented for various rain rates and frequencies. Furthermore, the powers of coherent and incoherent fields are compared and the credibility of the coherent scattering hypothesis in rain media is evaluated for various situations.
