Special Issue on Simulators [Guest Editorial]

During one of the meetings as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Magazine, Christoph Stiller, the current Editor-in-Chief, approached me and asked if there was a topic for which I would like to have a special issue. With my own research being involved with ITS simulators, I naturally suggested that, to which I could not have asked for a more positive response. The quality of the -papers -received exceeded my expectations, and the reviewers did a tremendous job making recommendations for improvements with the accepted papers. Of the 12 papers received, five of them were accepted for this special issue of the ITS Magazine, with two of them being from Germany, one from Spain, one from China, and one from the United States.
