Abstract :
This article analyzes options for transporting CATV distribution, pay-per-view, and video-on-demand over a residential broadband network. It provides clearly tabulated evaluations of video coding alternatives, ATM service category alternatives, ATM adaptation layer alternatives, and methods for dealing with errors and delay. Conclusions are drawn regarding buffer requirements, congestion control, and error control
