Abstract :
We present a linear, arbitrary ratio resizer for the interoperability of digital video in MPEG applications. The resizer supports conversions among interlaced/progressive, 4:2:0, 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 video formats with arbitrary resizing and fractional shift. Particularly, for interlaced to progressive conversion (deinterlacing), a combined resizing and deinterlacing algorithm is proposed, which is bandwidth efficient for hardware implementation. With the proposed algorithm, resizing filters can be generated and implemented on-the-fly using software. The algorithm is also a useful tool for deriving scheduling information for hardware implementation
