Abstract :
Park et al. [see ibid., vol.32, no.12, p.1145-7, 1996] presented an adaptive variable structure controller with decreasing gain, which guarantees that the sliding mode occurs after the sliding hyperplane is hit. It is of interest to note that the decreasing adaptation law given in the Letter by Park et al. can be applied to the control law to make the overall system asymptotically stable
