Abstract :
Many things are moving on and the entire scenery is quickly changing, calling for continuous evolutionary search to adapt the Society organization and services to the membership needs while keeping the technical leadership in our interest areas. In such a dynamic and challenging situation, I am extremely proud to serve as Society President, and I fully realize the responsibility of being the first European called to this job, I will do my best but, indubitably, chairing the Society from abroad will require a tremendous cooperation from the colleagues of the Executive Board and from all those running the Society at any level. I wish to thank all these people from now for their fundamental contributions.
