Abstract
A magnet using a High-Tc Superconducting (HTS) tapes often consist of stacked pancakes or solenoids. Need for connecting each coil or adding insufficient superconducting part of applications is the reason why splice is required. Splice characteristics on the tapes wound on curved area are easily subjected to bending force. In order for the tape on the curved area to achieve appropriate splice characteristics, the effect of both applied pressure and bending strain should be taken into consideration.
