Abstract
Pulse sequences giving controlled spectra of harmonics are described, and the application of these sequences to carrier-generation schemes is discussed. Sequences are described that generate uniform spectra containing all harmonics of the sequence repetition rate, spectra containing only odd harmonics, and spectra in which alternate odd harmonics predominate. Means of generating spectra containing selected even and odd harmonics are indicated, but are not discussed in detail. Frequency division and filtering, i.e. the extraction of a single harmonic or class of harmonics, are also considered. The application of these techniques to two-carrier-generation schemes is discussed.
