Abstract :
The orbital moment anisotropy of CoPd multilayers was measured using transverse magnetic circular X-ray dichroism. We show that this anisotropy is due to the Co interface layer and can be directly linked to the magnetocrystalline anisotropic energy. The measured quantitative relationship can presently not be reproduced by theory
